Letter 029 Paris, 29 June 1875
Dear Theo,
I really want to know if you are leaving The Hague. Is that what you want, too? Do write me if it is yes or no? Provisionally I am staying here, and I probably will not go to Holland before the autumn.
In the first box that goes to The Hague you will find a little parcel for Helvoirt. Please forward it after looking at what鈥檚 in it. There are a few lithographs which I should like to see hanging in Father鈥檚 study,
next to the 鈥淔uneral Procession through the Cornfields,鈥?by Van der Maaten. 鈥淎n Old Huguenot,鈥?by Anker 鈥?the lithograph of which is in the parcel 鈥?I have sold to Uncle Vincent, who was here a few days ago. He also bought a beautiful picture by Jacque, 鈥淗orses before a Plough in the Rain.鈥?p style="line-height:25px;text-indent:32px"> I don鈥檛 know whether I have already written to you about it or not, but there has been a sale here of drawings by Millet. When I entered the hall of the H么tel Drouot, where they were exhibited, I felt like saying, 鈥淭ake off your shoes, for the place where you are standing is Holy Ground.鈥?p style="line-height:25px;text-indent:32px"> You know that Millet lived at Gr茅ville. Well, I do not know whether it was at Gr茅ville or Granville that the man whom I told you of died. However this may be, I looked at Millet鈥檚 drawings of 鈥淭he Rocks of Gr茅ville鈥?with extra care. There is now a picture of his at the Luxembourg, 鈥淭he Church at Gr茅ville.鈥?脌 Dieu Vincent
